The Least Sexy Product We Sell, and Maybe the Most Important
Nobody browses an adult store looking for a bath mat. Rex gets it. But a wet tub is one of the most reliably dangerous surfaces in a house, and anything you plan to do standing up in there goes considerably better when your feet are not negotiating with the enamel.
This is a large, soft foam mat that suctions to the bottom of a tub or shower and stays put.
The Size Is the Selling Point
It measures 36 by 17 inches, which covers the standing area of a standard tub rather than the polite 12 inch square most bath mats give you. That difference matters. A small mat means you are constantly aware of where its edges are, and stepping half off a mat is arguably worse than having no mat at all.
At this size you can move, shift your weight, and change position without thinking about it.
Foam, Not Rubber
The mat is soft foam, so it is genuinely comfortable to stand or kneel on for a while, which is not something you can say about a thin rubber mat. If you spend any real time in the shower, your knees and the soles of your feet will register the difference.
The underside is covered in suction cups that grip the tub floor. Secure enough that it does not slide, easy enough to pull up when you want to clean underneath.
Installing It Properly
Suction cups are only as good as the surface and the technique. Rinse the mat and clean the tub first. Wet the base of the tub, lay the mat down with the suction cups facing down, and press it into place. Then step in carefully and confirm it is secure before you trust it.
Smooth enamel, acrylic, and fiberglass tub floors all work. Heavily textured non-slip tub bottoms are the one surface where suction cups struggle, because there is not enough flat area to form a seal.
Cleaning
Surface wash only, and not machine washable. A machine will tear up the suction cups and the foam. Lift it, rinse it, wipe it down, and clean the tub underneath on the same schedule you would clean the tub anyway. Doing that regularly is what keeps a bath mat from becoming its own hygiene problem.
The Rest of the Safety Kit
A mat handles the floor. If you want the full setup, the suction cup grab bar gives you something to hold and the foot rest solves the balance problem that comes with lifting a leg. Together they turn a slippery box into somewhere you can actually move around with confidence.
Why Rex Recommends
Rex will be blunt. Shower sex is great right up until somebody's foot goes sideways, and then it is an emergency room story. Of everything in this catalog, a large non-slip mat has the best ratio of boring to genuinely useful. It costs less than most lubricants and it removes the single biggest reason shower plans get abandoned.
