The Lube That Does Not Quit When the Water Starts
Water-based lube in the shower is a losing battle. It rinses off in about four seconds and you are back where you started, reaching for the bottle with wet hands. Silicone lube does not have that problem, because water cannot wash it away.
Swiss Navy Silicone is the one Rex keeps recommending for shower sex, and the reason is simple: it is the only category of lubricant that actually survives running water.
Why Silicone Beats Water-Based In the Shower
Water-based formulas are mostly water. Rinse them and they are gone. They are a fine choice for a bed and a terrible choice for a wet tile wall.
Silicone lubricant does not absorb into skin and does not dissolve in water. One pump at the start lasts the whole session, no reapplication, no interruption, no fumbling for a bottle while standing on a wet surface. It also has a distinctly slicker, more velvety feel than water-based formulas, which some people prefer even on dry land.
The Important Compatibility Warning
Here is the part most retailers skip, and Rex would rather you hear it from us than learn it the expensive way. Silicone lubricant can degrade silicone toys. Over repeated contact it breaks down the surface, leaving a tacky, gummy texture that does not come clean and cannot be fixed.
So: silicone lube is excellent with skin, latex condoms, glass, stainless steel, and ABS plastic. It is also fine with the Lucky Ducky, which is rubber and plastic rather than silicone. If your toy is silicone, reach for a hybrid formula instead. We carry Swiss Navy Hybrid for exactly that reason, and it holds up in water far better than a pure water-based lube.
The Bottle Deserves a Mention
Swiss Navy ships this in a patented leak-proof bottle with a lockable pump. The lock matters more than it sounds. It means you can throw it in a bag without coating everything you own, and it means a curious guest cannot accidentally produce a pump of lube on your bathroom counter.
The pump is one-handed, which is the entire point in a shower. It also looks like a nice skincare product rather than something you would hide, so it can sit out without comment.
What's In It
Three ingredients: cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, and tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E). No glycerin, no water, no filler. The formula is hypoallergenic and non-absorbing, and Swiss Navy uses the highest grade silicone on the market. It is latex condom compatible, which not every lubricant can claim.
Why Rex Recommends
This is the practical pick, not the romantic one. If you are having sex in a shower, water-based lube is going to fail you and you are going to be annoyed. A single bottle of this lasts a long time because you need so little per use, which makes the cost per session genuinely low. Buy it once, stop thinking about it.
If you go through lube quickly, the 16 oz bottle is the better value per ounce.
